February #005. This piece investigates temporal notation through graduated obscurity, asking whether darkness can function as duration rather than merely absence. The hypothesis emerged from Renaissance chiaroscuro techniques, but recontextualized: light and shadow as choreographed viewing tempos, visibility as a function of temporal investment.

Through multiple iterations, I pursued this concept from classical pastiche toward something more honest about dissolution and impermanence. Early attempts failed by clinging to art historical reference without contemporary stakes. The breakthrough ca
